Prizewinners’ Concert as Part of the WERFT Festival

ON - Neue Musik Köln, Cologne, Germany

Since its founding in 1990 Ensemble Musikfabrik has been one of the leading bodies of musicians in the field of contemporary music. Its artistic focus lies on collaboration with contemporary composers, including numerous winners of the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize. Already suggested in its name, Ensemble Musikfabrik is dedicated to artistic innovation.

By featuring the planned concert, which is supported by the EvS Music Foundation, in the WERFT festival a suitable context is provided to explore the work of the composers’ prize winners Milica Djordjevic, David Hudry and Gordon Kampe. This three-day series of events will, for the first time, be held in Cologne in early December bringing together Cologne’s young contemporary music ensembles such as Ensemble Garage and MAM.manufaktur für aktuelle Musik. At the prizewinners’ concert works by the composers’ prize winners will be performed alongside works by even younger composers. Since musicians from Cologne’s special ensemble for Old Music Concerto Köln will also feature the various scenes will make it possible for an artistic exchange to take place so as to appeal to a large audience.
