Composition Commissions issued to Rihm, Killmayer, Trojahn, Hesketh, Eggert, Muno and A. Goehr

Kissinger Summer Festival, Germany

The Kissinger LiederWerkstatt is a unique workshop project in Germany which distinguishes itself with a special focus on the contemporary piano “lied”. The Kissinger Summer Festival has assumed the role of issuing commissions to renowned composers to compose new works for voice and piano in order to help modernize the somewhat nostalgic image of the “lied”. Every year a different poet is in focus here. In 2012 the composers Wolfgang Rihm, Wilhelm Killmayer, Manfred Trojahn, Kenneth Hesketh, Moritz Eggert, Alexander Muno and Alexander Goehr will, with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, be placing the poet William Shakespeare at the focus of their works. The preparations for the two concerts in Bad Kissingen will be held as part of a “workshop” from June 23rd 2012 also attended by the composers themselves.

June 30th 2012 (Premiere) and July 1st 2012
Regentenbau, Bad Kissingen
