Concert by the Ensemble Modern at Klangspuren Schwaz

Ensemble Modern GbR, Frankfurt am Main, Germany

As part of the »Klangspuren Schwaz« festival the »Klangspuren International Ensemble Modern Academy« together with the “International Ensemble Modern Academy” has, every year since 2003, held the international masterclass for solo and chamber music and ensemble repertoire that has developed into one of the most successful projects of the Tyrol festival. In parallel the Ensemble Modern also presents itself annually with a concert.
Created ten years ago by the Ensemble Modern and Frankfurt am Main’s music and performing arts academy Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst the »Klangspuren« masterclass annually offers ten to sixteen instrumentalists, a composer, conductor and sound director the chance to collaborate with the ensemble and present themselves in almost 30 concerts over the year. Now, for the first time in the history of this masterclass in contemporary music, its participants will form part of the Ensemble Modern Orchestra. Together with the Ensemble Modern, the Ensemble of the International Ensemble Modern Academy and its alumni they will rehearse the orchestra repertoire (works by Bernhard Gander and Enno Poppe) for three days on site in Schwaz under the baton of Enno Poppe (»Composer in Residence 2016«) and open the »Klangspuren« festival in September this year. This project is being supported by the EvS Music Foundation.
