Konzert für Neugierige

Mendelssohn Kammerorchesters Leipzig

Mendelssohn’s immense service to unjustly forgotten composers, contemporary music and the advancement of up-and-coming talents is undisputed. "Konzerte für Neugierige" (Concerts for the Inquisitive) is a series of concerts organized by the friends of the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig. In their dramaturgy the concerts reflect his contribution to music and contemporize his work for this day and age. In the choice of works for the program head themes draw wider parallels between the individual compositions and their composers.
For the opening concert of the 2010/2011 concert season the orchestra will experiment with the different meanings and associations of the words "Miracles and Children". A special highlight in the concert will be a composition commission issued to Iris ter Schiphorst made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The text basis for the piece "Maria Melodram" written by dramatist Peter Staatsmann will be performed for the first time under Peter Bruns with Salome Kammer in the leading role.
