Six Composition Commissions

United Instruments of Lucilin, Luxembourg

In 2022, the town of Esch sur Alzette in Luxembourg (along with other small towns) will be a European Capital of Culture. To mark the occasion United Instruments of Lucilin are planning a series of short pieces entitled Minimum2/Maximum3, focusing on the cultural diversity of the people living in this area: over 122 nationalities are represented, and less than 50% of the population are Luxembourgers. The series presents new duos and trios lasting 5 to 10 minutes each, commissioned to Fatima Fonte (Portugal), Philippe Manoury (France), Giulia Lorusso (Italy), Stefan Prins (Belgium), Sonja Mutic (Serbia) and James Dillon (United Kingdom). The new compositions, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, can be enjoyed in a concert program in September 2022.
