Concert Series: The Impossibility of Nostalgia

Wavefield Ensemble, New York City, USA

Wavefield presents "The Impossibility of Nostalgia," a three-part concert series that explores how collaboration has been transformed by the pandemic. Each concert will feature works by US and international composers. The first concert, "Une Épopée," brings to the stage music not yet performed, commissioned by Wavefield before the pandemic. "Languages Emerge" explores new musical languages created during the pandemic – compositions that view video as a medium for musical communication. The ensemble's concert program "Dawn Chorus" ultimately asks the question: What can we do when the pandemic is over? After all, the problem of environmental collapse will not disappear with the virus. Facilitated by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the concert series will feature music by Karl Naegelen, Samuel Yulsman, Erin Rogers, Raphaèle Biston, Jessie Cox and others.
