Freedom – Social

Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Norway

Under the festival motto Freedom – Social, Ultima presents works by artists with a musical and interdisciplinary focus who engage the audience in new ways. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is facilitating the four projects.

With Archipel. Ein Spektakel der Vermischungen (Archipelago. A Spectacle of Mixtures) by Brigitta Muntendorf (composition), Stephanie Thiersch (choreography) and Sou Fujimoto (sculpture), dance, music and visual arts enter into a new alliance. The sculpture by architect Sou Fujimoto is on the one hand a landscape while on the other it creates sound through movement, touch, moods and silence. In search of new forms of composition and communication, the festival features Norwegian Soloists' Choir, Ensemble Garage and Mouvoir Dance Ensemble.

Voice Affairs featuring Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart by Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Cynthia Zaven, Dániel Péter Biró, Raed Yassin, Youmna Saba and Aya Metwalli is an interdisciplinary project that finds new artistic ways of working between Europe, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.

Dreams of Our Future by and with Sofia Jernberg, Ariadne Greif, a children's choir and ensemble of eight musicians recounts the dreams of children. The production is based on a joint workshop.

With Organotopia, Norwegian composer and organist Nils Henrik Asheim will create a 12-hour project held in Paulus Church and in the public park Birkelunden directly in front of the church.
