10th Anniversary of Ensemble New Babylon: Nine Composition Commissions

Since its founding in 2012, Ensemble New Babylon has focused on two elementary ideas: on the one hand, performing contemporary music in the most varied and sophisticated ways possible, and on the other, providing more tolerance towards the unknown, the foreign, through music. This also includes cultural exchange with other nations, which the international ensemble has made its hallmark from the very outset. Ensemble New Babylon is celebrating its 10th anniversary by commissioning nine composition commissions, which will be premiered between February and November. The instrumentation of the individual commissioned compositions is left to each composer's discretion. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is facilitating the composition commissions issued to Iris ter Schiphorst, Elnaz Seyedi, Luis Codera Puzo, Michael Quell, Huihui Cheng, Siegrid Ernst, Riccardo Castagnola, Alexander F. Müller and Tania León.
