Composers for Breakfast 2022

ensemble courage, Dresden, Germany

The concert series Composers for Breakfast is a mediation project for New Music by ensemble courage. Started in 2014 in cooperation with the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, it has been held in collaboration with the European Center for the Arts HELLERAU since 2016 and has since become steadily more established on Dresden's cultural scene. The series consists of two to three concerts per year and offers the audience the chance to get to know composers intensively in terms of both their thinking and their work. This format is not merely aimed at experts in New Music but is more an event for families and anyone wishing to learn more about music and the setting in which it was created as well as the composer him/herself. A late breakfast provides the setting for an enjoyable, stimulating morning.

The focus of the breakfast concert is to introduce composers and their music. Questions about the genesis and creative process, the idea and personal motivations behind the works are illuminated.

In 2022, three events featuring renowned performers of contemporary music are planned as part of the series: Rebecca Saunders, former Capell-Compositeur of Dresden Staatskapelle in 2010, Stefan Prins, Professor of Composition at the Dresden College of Music since 2020, and Enno Poppe, the conductor and composer.
