Presenting Passion :SPIEL the Weimar Weekends for Contemporary Music Theater will be held for the first time in March 2022 at the e-werk venue of Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. Between the end of winter and start of spring, Passion :SPIEL will expand the music theater schedule dedicating itself to experimental, innovative music theater that points to the future.

Passion :SPIEL fires up the music theater practice of the Deutsches Nationaltheater: here freelance performers of contemporary music theater and up-and-coming artists meet an unbiased and experimental ensemble with whom they can explore new creative spaces. Passion :SPIEL offers the musically inclined Weimar audience intense and exciting listening and viewing experiences at the highest artistic level forming a platform for a creative-explosive exchange between the institution and the independent scene. Passion :SPIEL sets no limits on the musical-theatrical exploration of extremes. These weekends devoted to contemporary music theater by exceptional composers such as Brigitta Muntendorf, Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage radiate an aura that continues to mark out Weimar as a place of exciting music theater innovations.
