Ung nordisk musik Festival 2022

Ung Nordisk Musik, Reykjavik, Iceland

Ung Nordisk Musik (Young Nordic Music, UNM) is a festival for new and experimental music by composers and artists under 30 based in the Nordic countries. The festival was founded in 1946, making it one of the oldest of its kind. Each year, the hosting and organizing duties for the festival rotate between Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, with the organizing committees being made up of young composers and artists in each country.

At the 2022 festival in Reykjavik, UNM Iceland is for the first time initiating a new residency- and commissioning program within the festival. The projects made during this period will complement 20 existing pieces selected through the traditional open call. The artists-in-residence are commissioned to create new works to fit within the festival program, either individually or in self-initiated collaborations. This year for the first time, artists from the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will also participate in the festival program.
