Composition Commission to Mark Andre

Society of Friends of the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival, Germany

To mark the 77th edition of the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival, Mark Andre is composing a string quartet for the Kuss Quartet. The festival motto Zeit.Räume (Time.Spaces) focuses on the interaction between two essential poles of perception. Among other things, the commissioned work will also explore how the spatial vibration of the sixteen strings of a string quartet relates to the temporal art that is music and its acoustic unfolding within the hall. The quartet is being created in a close exchange between the composer and the musicians and is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
