Composition Commission to Jamilia Jazylbekova

Hannoversche Gesellschaft für Neue Musik, Hanover, Germany

Every year, the "Klangbrücken" festival brings together all of Hanover's relevant institutions and ensembles in the field of New Music. Past years saw the festival focus on Bernd Alois Zimmerman, Olivier Messiaen and Luciano Berio, among others. In 2022 the festival is dedicated to a female composer, Younghi Pagh-Paan, for the first time.

The HGNM will be contributing a double concert to this event with an intermission talk led by Silke Leopold. The first concert will feature Pagh-Paan's students and colleagues with their sound gifts for the composer's 75th birthday, including the new composition by Jamilia Jazylbekova, sponsored by the EvS Music Foundation, giving the concert special topicality.

The second concert will focus on Pagh-Paan's relationship to texts. In addition, a wide-ranging program of older and completely new works by Pagh-Paan will be performed.
