Homage – Dieter Ammann on his 60th Birthday

Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Switzerland

To mark his 60th birthday, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is organizing a series of events entitled "Homage – Dieter Ammann at 60", sponsored by the EvS Music Foundation featuring four concerts including a world premiere. Amman's compositions will be performed alongside pieces that have had an influence on his creative work by Joseph Haydn, György Ligeti and Wolfgang Rihm among others. The series will conclude with the world premiere of Ammann's Morceau en forme d'improvisation for 36-voice choir, piano duo and jazz sextet. Composed as early as 1995, the work has not yet been realized due to its extremely demanding and polyphonic choral part.

The concerts are each accompanied by "Music Talks" – lectures or panel discussions serving the declared goal of communicating Ammann's music to an interested audience and generally shedding light on contemporary composition.
