Offspring – Contemporary Music at Prague Spring 2022

Pražské jaro, Prague, Czech Republic

As part of Prague Spring, the DOX Center for Contemporary Art will showcase new works from the international and national contemporary music scene. As Ensemble-in-Residence, Klangforum Wien, under the baton of Bas Wiegers, will not only perform at two evening concerts. The ensemble will also hold public workshops and masterclasses for young composers and instrumentalists. Olga Neuwirth is invited as Composer-in-Residence in 2022, and her compositions will be presented by Klangforum Wien during the festival. The program also includes (world) premieres by Martin Smolka, Jakub Rataj, Lucie Vítková, Adrián Demoč, Konstantin Heuer and Ian Mikyska. Awaiting the audience here will be encounters with musicians and artists, a panel discussion, a performative installation by Matouš Hejl and Aleš Čermák and a lecture and performance by the architect of the DOX+ building complex Petr Hájek – who designed the concert hall itself as a musical instrument. To conclude there will be a party with composer Konstantin Heuer as DJ. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making Klangforum Wien´s concerts at Prague Spring possible in May 2022.
